Dear North Mason School District Community,
We are excited to announce the formation of a special committee dedicated to assessing the needs of our district and providing recommendations to the board. This committee will focus on the upcoming replacement enrichment levy, which is crucial for supporting our schools’ operations and enhancing educational experiences for our students.
The current levy will expire at the end of 2025, making it necessary to run a replacement levy during the February 11, 2025 election. This is NOT a new tax. This is a REPLACEMENT LEVY request.
Purpose of the Committee: The committee’s primary goal is to evaluate the current state of our district, identify areas that require additional funding, and propose a comprehensive plan for the 2025 enrichment levy. By engaging with stakeholders, educators, parents, and community members, we aim to create a well-informed and impactful recommendation.
Levy Committee Meetings:
First meeting will occur August 19, 2024. Future meeting dates will be determined by the committee members.
All meetings will be held at 6:00 pm via Zoom. Please contact Jackie Young for the meeting link.
Key Areas of Focus:
Operations: We will assess the financial requirements for day-to-day operations, including staffing, maintenance, safety, and utilities.
Enrichment Programs: Our committee will explore opportunities to enhance student experiences through extracurricular activities, arts, sports, and other enrichment programs.
Equity and Inclusion: We are committed to ensuring that all students have equal access to quality education. The enrichment levy will address equity gaps and promote inclusivity.
Timeline:
Formation: The committee convened in August 2024.
Research and Analysis: Throughout the fall, we will gather data, consult experts, and engage with the community.
Recommendation: By late 2024, we will present our findings and propose a detailed enrichment levy plan to the school board.
Get Involved: We invite parents, educators, students, and community members to participate in this vital process. Your input matters! Look out for upcoming town hall meetings, surveys, and opportunities to share your thoughts.
Our community has been supportive consistently over the years of the instructional and operational levy fund requests. THANK YOU, again, for being so instrumental in the lives of the students and staff in our schools.
Let’s work together to ensure a bright future for North Mason School District.
Stay tuned for updates!
